Meeting Times and Locations:
Monday Lecture:
Sections 1,2,and 3 meet from 9:00-9:50 AM in Room 162, Music Building. Sections 4,5 and 6 meet from 10:00-10:50 AM in Room 162, Music Building.

Wednesday Labs:
An independent work day. Sections 1,2, and 3 should plan to use the hour from 9-9:50 AM for their lab work. Sections 4,5, and 6 should plan to use the hour from 10-10:50 AM for their lab work. Depending on the assignment and option chosen, students will go to any computer lab on campus, in the Music Library, or in Room 162 Music. Occasionally all sections will meet in room 162 - Read schedule carefully and watch for announcements.

Friday Discussion Sections:
On Fridays each section will meet according to the schedule below for more extensive exploration of the week's topic and associated musical repertoire.The focus will be on listening.

Required Work and Grading Scale

Requirement Points Explanation
8 Labs 50 points each There are 13 lab assignments over the course of the semester. Each requires a written report of 2-3 pages in length. Your eight highest grades will be counted in the calculation of your final grade. All papers will be graded according to a standard set of criteria.
1 Concert report 50 points May be submitted anytime during the semester, but no later than Wed. Nov. 27. See guidelines for the concert report.
1 Midterm exam 100 points Will focus on listening and objective material covered in class and in the text.
1 Final exam 100 points Like midterm, will focus on listening and objective material covered in class and in the text.
Overall Participation 50 points Measured by your presence and active involvement in seminar, including your contributions to class discussions and MUSERV, our class Listserv.
