Venue and Scope of the Symposium
The 11th International Symposium on Cells of the Hepatic Sinusoid and their Relation to Other Cells is organized under the auspices of the Kupffer Cell Foundation, and will take place from Sunday, August 25th through Thursday, August 29th, 2002. The symposium will be held at Loews Ventana Canyon, a desert resort in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. The present symposium fits into the series of International Symposia on Cells of the Hepatic Sinusoid, which have been renamed, to emphasize that the focus is not only on hepatic sinusoidal cells themselves, but also on their relation to other cells.

As a result, the meeting will consider all aspects of the structure and function during health and disease of liver sinusoidal cells, including Kupffer, endothelial, fat-storing, and pit cells and their relation to hepatic parenchymal cells, blood cells, connective tissue elements, etc. Interested colleagues from all biomedical and relevant clinical disciplines are invited to participate. The Organizing Committee will provide several different means of scientific communication, including poster and oral presentations and publication of the conference proceedings. You are invited to send any proposals and suggestions concerning the symposium to a member of the Scientific Organizing Committee, whose names and addresses are found on the Committees page.
