Summary of skills
  • Statistical Analysis (SPSS, SAS)
  • Research Design
  • Project and Data Management
  • Online Data Collection

For the past five years, I have been researching issues of technology in human communication in the fields of human-computer interaction and computer mediated communication. I have worked on several independent projects in these areas and assisted with research projects for faculty at Santa Clara University, MIT, University of Arizona, CMU, Michigan State and the Center for the Management of Information. I am particularly interested in

  • Computer and video mediated communication
  • Persuasion via animated computer agents
  • Issues of interactivity and presence
  • Health promotion online
  • Online social support
  • Research methods for online research

Through my undergraduate and graduate research experiences, I have acquired skills in conducting experimental and survey research, statistical analysis, and project management. In my graduate studies, I have completed quantitative and qualitative methodol ogy courses in communication, management information systems, and psychology.

I have coordinated project management on several military grant research projects and programmed online surveys, databases, and project tracking tools for research needs. I have also taught a course in undergraduate research methods on survey research. As a project coordinator, I conducted laboratory training, supervised laboratory personnel, assisted with writing grant proposals, and developed web tools to streamline the research process. In conducting univariate and multivariate s tatistical analyses, I primarily use SPSS, but I also have experience with SAS. My major accomplishment is the ROSS system (Research Online Signup System), which aids students, instructors and researchers in the recruitment and tracking of participants in research projects.
