Sources by Type

Audiovisual materials
Biographical sources - Accounts of the series of events making up a person's life or several peoples' lives
Books - Informational texts concerning specific topics often with discussions in great detail
Databases - Collections managed and stored in one place and all accessible via the same server
Dictionaries - Books containing the words of a language, arranged alphabetically, with explanations of their meanings
Directories - Collections or bodies of directions, rules, ordinances, or other information
Encyclopedias - Reference works containing articles on various topics dealing with the entire range of human knowledge or with some particular specialty
Geographical sources - Resources regarding of or relating to location or geography
Government documents - Written matter regarding regulations
Handbooks - Concise reference books, providing specific information about a subject or location
Indexes - Resources that point out; show, indicate, manifest, or disclose
Journal Articles - Resources that report new results or findings and advance the knowledge in a field of study
Web Resources - Web sites reviewed and suggested by the AHSL librarians
Yearbooks - Books published yearly; any annual report or summary of the statistics or facts of a year, designed to be used as a reference book
