“Collaborative Research: Impact of Legitimacy by Endorsement on Coalition Formation in Power Structures.”  A series of experiments that examine the effects of legitimation processes on exchange behavior.  Co-principal investigator with David Willer.  Funding period: September 1, 2005 - February 28, 2008.

"Agenda Gatekeeping."  National Science Foundation Grant #SES 8712097 to investigate the effects of legitimacy on the behavior of powerful members of groups---those who have the capacity to control a collectivity's agenda.  Co-principal investigator with Morris Zelditch, Jr.  Funding period:  September 1, 1987 - June 30, 1989.

"Language Proficiency and Income Attainments Among Black Americans."  An investigation of the empirical relationship between English proficiency and occupational and income attainments among black Americans.  Spencer Foundation Educational Research Grant administered by the School of Education, Stanford University.  Funding date:  November 1, 1986.

"Legitimacy and the Stability of Authority Structures."  National Science Foundation Grant #SES 8420238 to investigate determinants of legitimacy and their effects on stabilizing and destabilizing authority structures.  Co-principal investigator with Morris Zelditch, Jr.  Funding period:  April 1, 1985 - December 31, 1986.
