about me:

I specialize in American Poetry and regularly teach courses in Nineteenth-Century American Poetry (488a), American Modernist Poetry (488b), and Contemporary American Poetry (489a). I also teach Literary Analysis (380) on a regular basis. On the graduate level, I alternate between period courses in American poetry and a methods course, Close Reading: Poetry (596l). I'm a poet as well as a scholar of American poetry; I sometimes supervise students in the MFA program. I'm a co-founder and current board member of the Tucson poetry collective POG. Outside the realm of literature (sort of) I'm the resident teacher for Tucson's Desert Rain Zen, a koan-based Zen group that's part of the Open Source.
