I was born in Norfolk, Virginia. My dad was an officer
in the U.S. Navy. I lived in California, Virginia and Japan. In fact,
I was in Japan from the age of 5 until 12. That culutre is very important
to me. I learned to enjoy Japanese art and gardening. Beauty is very important
to me.
As a child I spoke Japanese but unfortunately I cannot speak much now. Here
I am at about 10 wearing traditional Japanese dress, called a kimono.

I feel that because I grew up in another culture
I am able to bridge the gap between people. The bridge is a symbol of the
Japanese garden so I include one here.
