screen shot instructions

To include the required screen shots in your documentation, take advantage of the PICTify application available on all PUCC Macs. Use the following instructions to complete the screen shot process.

1. Simultaneously depress the following 2 keys: "control," and "shift."

After you depress these keys, crosshairs will appear in place of the mouse pointer on the screen.

2. Depressing the mouse button, use the crosshairs to select the portion of the screen that you want to capture as an image.

After you release the mouse button, a PICTify window will appear.

3. From the pull-down menu, select the location where you want to save the image.

4. Replace the default image name, "PICTify Image," with a more descriptive file name.

Note: By default the "Choose file type:" will be highlighted as "TeachText." This file type is the appropriate choice for your screen shotes.

5. Making note of the location where you have saved the file, click the "Save" button.

PICTified images can be inserted into Word and PowerPoint documents; they also can be opened and refined through Photoshop. (Note: When using Photoshop on PUCC machines, you may want to close all other programs and applications in order to avoid computer crashes.)
