project 1: documentation

During the Documentation Project, your team will write and user-test documentation for a course technology. Your documentation will provide instructions for users who have not necessarily worked through the process that your team will be outlining. Your instructions will include both text and visuals and should allow even novice users to move successfully through your selected step-by-step process.

Your general goals for the documentation project are to:
Write for specific audiences and purposes.

Learn principles of effective document design.

Gain experience using technologies to produce documents.

Negotiate successful collaboration with your project team.

Manage a short-term writing project.


project 2: analyzing profesional contexts

During the Analyzing Professional Contexts project, you will conduct and analyze field research of your professional context. This field research will consist of an interview and an observation. After coding and analyzing your field research data, you will plan and draft a report discussing significant issues related to your field.

Your general project goals are to: 

Become more aware of writing as a social act.

Understand writing as a set of contextualized processes.

Relate writing strategies to workplace contexts.

Conduct and manage a complex writing/research project.

Create a persuasive report based upon research.


project 3: client web

During the Client Web project, our class will function as a consulting firm whose goal is to serve clients interested in either revising or developing World Wide Web pages. Your team will be working with an actual business or organization in the community in order to help it better utilize the potential of the WWW.

Your general project goals are to: 

Become more aware of writing as a social act.

Understand writing as a set of contextualized processes.

Relate writing strategies to workplace contexts.

Learn effective oral presentation techniques.

Conduct and manage a long-term writing/research project.

Gain experience writing persuasive documents.
