Yavapai County

On a hilltop overlooking the Verde River, an ancient people called the Sinagua settled around 1100 AD. The Sinagua were farmers who found ways to grow crops with the little water that falls in Arizona, thus the name that was given to them from the Spanish for "without water." These people left a long time ago but their village atop the hill still remains.

Here are a few pictures from when I visited what remains of this village in the summer of 2002.
