getting
to santafe new mexico,usa...
(source: santafe convention
and visitors bureau)
santafe
is in the north central part of the state of new mexico, usa, in the foothills
of the sangre de cristo mountains (part of the rocky mountains) at an altitude
of 7,000 feet. it is the capital city of new mexico, but the major
city of the state is albuquerque, located 62 miles to the south.
- most participants will likely plan
to arrive by air:
- fly into albuquerque international
airport, then, if you plan to explore the northern new mexico region before
or after the conference, rent a car. albuquerque is served by all
the major national rental car companies. most also have offices in santafe.
if you plan to spend time only in santafe,
you will be able to walk easily to scores of restaurants, galleries, museums,
and historic sites from you hotel. In that case, plan to take the convenient
superjack shuttle from the albuquerque airport to santafe.
- ten major airlines regularly fly
into albuquerque. click here for detailed
information on routes and fares.
- the santafe
airport is for small, private aircraft only.
- by shuttle-bus from albuquerque
international airport:
- shuttlejack (505-982-4311) offers
nonstop service from the airport to both of our conference hotels in the
center of santafe
10 times daily. make your reservations at least 24 hours in advance (but
not more than 60 days before your travel date)
- the trip takes a bit more than
an hour on fast interstate highway
- the one-way fare is only $20! (not
much different from what you might pay for a much shorter trip in from
the airport to a major city's CBD)
complete information on shuttlejack schedule and tickets.
- by car from albuquerque:
- take interstate highway 25 north
- exit on cerrillos road and travel
several miles to "the plaza," the historic center of town.
- la fonda's address is at 100 e.
san francisco, santafe, new
mexico 87501 usa (phone: 505-982-5511)
- the inn at lorreto's address is
211 old santafe trail,
santafe, new
mexico 87501 usa (phone: 505-988-5531)
- by train
- amtrak's southwest chief stops
at lamy, new mexico, usa, just 14 miles south of town. the lamy shuttle
(505-982-8829) is available to transport passengers to and from our hotels.
- because santafe
is more distant than some other north american meetings cities, participants
are strongly urged to plan to arrive on wednesday, november 11. note that
in a departure from the traditional format, paper sessions will begin on
thursday, november 12. to facilitate return-travel plans, no conference
activities will be held on sunday, november 15. click here to see an overview
of the meeting dates.
