ISL NEWS
PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
I would like to thank all Members of the ISL for the confidence placed in me. I will try my best to deserve it!
My main “goals” will be to increase the number of Members of the Society particularly among Young Investigators interested in Basic and/or Clinical Lymphology by facilitating their participation in the International Congresses of Lymphology by travel grants, reduced congress fees, specific sessions to present their contributions, and including them in research projects.
Another aim is to support the Journal Lymphology and its impact by asking Members of the ISL to contribute their best articles for publication in the Journal.
I plan to create Task Forces for staging/grading lymphedema, prevention, and lymphedema/ angiodysplasia syndromes with correlations to genetics, molecular biology, and other basic disciplines.
The next Interim Congress Meeting of the Executive Committee of the ISL will be held in Naples during the European Society of Lymphology (ESL) Meeting in June 25-27, 2008. All interested ISL Members are invited to take part in the European Lymphology Congress and contribute to its success.
Lymphology is a very exiting and stimulating field of both medicine and surgery, and I am sure that many Young Researchers–both basic and clinical–are attracted to it. It depends only on us whether they will join and contribute to the Society or not, and we will move forward together. I will do my utmost for this purpose, and I look forward to the next Congress in Australia to see these desires fulfilled, of course, with the help of all Members of the ISL.
Best wishes for 2008 and 2009!
Francesco Boccardo, MD, PhD
ISL President
