The
calm before the storm
I'm back to life as usual. Tucson is nice and
all, but it's no Grand Canyon/Hawaii/Road trip. I'm working
in the Cordes lab again but this time staying away from those
10 hour days. It's truely amazing the difference experience
makes. I'm now working on three to four different projects/procedures
at a time where just this last May I was only able to watch
patiently while dilligently writing down every detail to each
and every task that I was required to observe. Unfortunately
I now have to repeat everything that I completed durring the
first five weeks of summer because of a mechanical error.
I spent the begining of the summer making and purifying my
protein. It was purified and cleaned up in five different
ways. On the tuesday night after I returned from vacation,
however, while trying to purify it further so that we could
start using high resolution charaterizing devices, the machine
decided to dump my 5 mL sample onto the refridgerator floor.
Now I have to start from scratch. These are the great concerns
of a biochemist.
Now that I've lost your attention, I'll move
on to something else. Lots of little things have been going
on. Lauren has been dealing with the devils that make up the
trasfer-student advising center for the last few weeks. I
don't know what it is, but I seem to get all the breaks with
great advising, helpful professors and simple schedules. Lauren
has been running into a whole mess of problems. But the fun
thing is that she has been coming down to tucson a ton and
staying with me and hanging out with Dave and Claire. See!
I told you that you would make friends.
I've been having the usual college fun lately.
Hanging out with Lindsey has truely been a fantastical, college-extremist,
chocolate-covered experiance that I've truely missed. I'm
really ready for all the boys to get back from wherever the
hell they are. Lindsey and I have been craving Beers fun and
the ultimate entertainment of the Chad, Matt, and Mark. I
also have been trying frantically to get in those last minute
visits with Chaparral friends who are headed back to their
illustrious highly esteemed colleges back east. I'll be driving
to Phx on Friday to hang out with Jainy(aka: India Barbie)
and Beth (Two of the damn smartest people that I know). That
weekend will be short lived, however because I made plans
with Will, a super fun friend of mine from Lab, to go spelunking
in Oracle on Sunday morning. Yes, that's right: Spelunking!
I have met such cool people in college. As for now I'll just
finish up the week in Lab and try to stay out of too much
trouble before the storm of classes starts up on the 23rd.
