  Summer time

All work and no play makes Wendy a dull girl. Wait, I am playing too, so that must make her a tired girl. Ah yes, that's the ticket...tired. That's why the last couple days at work I've been taking naps in the grass north of the Life Sciences building at lunch. Lets hope that I don't sleep too long. So working in the Cordes lab is awesome. As of today I officially have a verified plasmid: pWI100. For a youthful biochemist like myself, that is quite the achievment. I finished up my freshman year pretty well with a 4.0 in 21 credits this semester. I have to say that Freshman year has been everything and more than I could ask for. Challenging classes, fantastic new and old friendships, memorable events documented for all prosperity, career building achievments and a taste of independence and responsibility. I've made some great new life-time friends. It'll be hard to not have Annalyn around anymore but she has promised to come back for my Birthday next October. I'm all moved into my new apartment and love it here. The facilities are very nice and my nice QUEEN sized bed fits beautifully in the room. I'm all situated and still in my "new apartment-cleaning mode." So there are beautiful flowers adorning the apartment and it's perfect for entertaining. *hint hint....my girls from back home need to visit* Just three and a half more weeks before I head out on my awesome series of vacations. I head out on June 18th for the Colorado River and will be shooting the rapids for 9 days. After that I'll get a chance to relax on the beautiful beaches of Hawaii for two blissful weeks. Flying out of Hawaii will take me to the lucious vegitation of Seattle, WA where I will proceed on a wonderful road trip through California back to the lovely U of A with my best friend, Lauren who is finally joining me after many years apart. I'll finish up the summer with another 5-6 weeks working in the lab before I begin another challenging year. I'll continue to post news and pictures as necessary over the summer. Despite my recent lapses in updates, I now have a bit more time, so don't worry your pretty little heads.
