Rock
steady
We are now down to the final countdown. As of
today, August 13, 2005, I have one month until I fly away
to my adventures in Scotland. My plans until then are to stay
in Tucson with my brother and work in the Cordes lab for a
few weeks finishing up my projects and seeing friends. I still
have a few preparations left. (scoff) Yeah, just a few such
as my UK visa, my student identification cards, my tuition
and housing payments, warm clothes, and packing the rest of
my belongings away for the year. Hmmm, one whole month. I
am extraordinarily excited about going. My feelings mix between
butterflies and anticipation on a momentary basis. I have
quite a lot to occupy my time and my mind until I leave. This
is a good thing for me. The busier I am, the less I stressful
I feel. I have been making new friends left and right. I'm
really enjoying their company but know that when I leave,
these short friendships may be more fragile when I leave.
Its great practice for Scotland though. All of my funky unhappy
(not Wendy-ish) feelings that have hovered over me the last
year are clearing away. The things that are helping the most
are the wonderful stories from those who have gone abroad
themselves, the shared excitement with friends who are going
off on their own international adventures, and the budding
possibilities of friends who have never vacationed in Europe
coming to visit me while I'm there.
The plan is obviously to study at St Andrews
both Fall and Spring semesters and take three to four Neuro-Psych
classes a semester. I hope that I'll be able to travel a bit
at least within Great Britain if not on a few jaunts to Sweden
or Germany. I will hopefully be going to the Glasgow The Darkness
concert that I have recently been informed that I've been
"guest-listed" for. Eat me Dave! I'll send pics,
don't worry. For Christmas break I'll be flying somewhere
in the Caribbean to meet my Dad, Shar, Kris, and Dave. After
school is out, Dave is going to fly on over and we'll go on
a grand tour of Europe, perhaps stopping in Kenya, Africa
for a mission trip with our church. I mean, since we are in
the area anyways, why not? I'm off to see my boss play some
Blue-grass at Hotel Congress, so if you want to see me before
I go, give me a call. Love you all!!!
P.S. I'm going sky diving with my dad and bro
on Sunday the 20th!!!
