I started weightlifting in November of 1998 and I'm still going at it. I'm about 5' 9" and only weighed a little under 145 when I started; slightly thin for my size, since then I've gained close to an extra 30 pounds of muscle. When I tell people how much I weighed when I started they can't believe it. I don't consider myself a professional weightlifter and have no intention of becoming one. However, during that time I learned some things that might be useful to someone just starting out.
