Current Courses
  • ENG 106: Composition II - A continuation of study of the principles of writing begun in ENG 105. Emphasis is placed on persuasive writing as well as literary analysis and the MLA research paper. Time will also be spent exploring the research sources available from the library.
  • SPC 112: Public Speaking - This course examines both the theoretical and practical basis of speech communication, particularly public speaking. Emphasis is on speech preparation, organization, support, delivery, and audience analysis.

  • ENL 433: Nonfiction Writing - A course intended to develop the student’s skill in expository and critical writing. Attention will be given to the problems of structure and style with a view to writing with more persuasiveness.
  • ENGL 306: Advanced Composition - Study of rhetorical theory; practice in writing exposition and argument.
  • ENH 215: Literature and Humanities - The treatment of major humanistic concerns in literature.
  • ENL 212: Discussion and Debate - Techniques of leading and participating in group discussions, and the principles and practice of debating. Parliamentary rules of order are covered.
  • ENGL 104H: Honors First-Year Composition - Critical papers for advanced students. Taught previously: Spring 2004.
  • ENGL 103H: Honors First-Year Composition - Exposition for advanced students. Taught previously: Fall 2003.
  • ENG 151: College Writing - English 151 builds on the work of English 111. It emphasizes expository and analytic writing and longer papers. Attention to reading, library skills, and research methods.
  • ENGL 102: First-Year Composition - Critical papers on selected subjects. Taught previously: Fall 2001, Spring 2001.
  • ENGL 1304: Freshman Composition II - A detailed study of the principles of rhetoric as applied to analyzing and writing argumentative and persuasive essays; principles and methods of research, culminating in writing a substantial research paper.
  • ENGL 101: First-Year Composition - Exposition, emphasis on essays.
  • ENGL 1303: Freshman Composition I - A detailed study of the principles of rhetoric as applied in reading and writing expository essays.
