Forrmat: Questions will be multiple choice, matching or true/false.  You will need to be able to recognize the correct choice from a set of options.  I will play musical examples in class for the listening questions. Generally there are about 60 questions on the test.

I. Listening.

Know the first 24 selections on CD 1. Be able to match the sound of the piece with its title, composer (when applicable), performer(s), date of piece or recording, cultural tradition, genre. Know features of the selection such as instrumentation, manner of singing, and other elements of style that distinguish the song or selection. Know in what kinds of contexts you might hear it performed.

II. Identification.
