Arizona Current Research Workshop
In collaboration with the Institute for Humane Studies.
Each year, the Freedom Program provides a younger scholar (usually an alumnus of the University of Arizona) with the opportunity to get feedback on a scholarly manuscript from world class scholars.
The first workshop was held on January 21, 2005, showcasing the work of Dan Russell (University of Melbourne) on Stoic virtue, with commentators Nancy Sherman and A. A. Long.
The second workshop featured the work of Matt Zwolinski (University of San Diego) on sweatshops, with commentators Norman Bowie and Alan Wertheimer. Go to Workshop 2006 for more info, including copies of the papers.
CRW III featured a paper by Christopher (Kit) Wellman on how a state might acquire the right to punish, with commentators Loren Lomasky and Russ Shafer-Landau. Click on 2007 for more updates.
CRW IV featured a paper by Jason Brennan on pluralistic moral theories, with commentators Elijah Millgram and Geoff Sayre-McCord.
CRW V, the second of our CRWs in 2008, was on the manuscript of John Tomasi's new book, The Myth of Modern Liberalism. Commentators were Tom Christiano, Bas van der Vossen, Jerry Gaus, and Dave Schmidtz.
