After graduation from JCHS, I went to Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri for two years and then transferred to the University of Kansas where I recieved my Bachelor's of Social Work in 1973. That same year I married Dale Baker and we moved to Manhattan where I worked at Fort Riley as a social worker. We later divorced and I moved to Leavenworth where I commuted to Lawrence recieving my Master's of Social Work in 1979...and, yes, I was married that year and moved to Phoenix, AZ where I have worked as a medical social worker for 23 years. I retired approximately three years ago.
During that time, I was divorced again, remarried, divorced...and finally got it right....and married Neil Thomas in 1990. This May we will celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. When people ask me how long I have been married I love to tell them that both Neil and I were married three times before we married. It always brings on a bit of surpirse on that person's face.
Neil is a salesman for Milgard Manufacturing which is a window company and with the continued development of the Phoenix area he does pretty well. I have helped transform him in Jayhawk fan (basketball). I am a rabid fan when it comes to my Hawks. Jan Kessinger and I commiserate with each other during the Hoops season as the Hawks go through their ups and downs.
I do not have any children. Neil has a son who lives in L.A. We have a yellow lab and 7 cats. We used to have 13. Neil and I volunteered for an animal rescue orgranization in Phoenix. Needless to say, we do not volunteer anymore as it leads to an increase in our animal population. I love to read and my passion is gardening. Yes, we can garden in the desert. My garden each year is pretty awesome. Gardening allows me to get in touch with what is truly important in life.
My Mom still lives in Junction City. My father died in April, 2000. It was tough. I visit my Mom about 3-4 times a year. For those of you who know my brothers, Ron lives in Topeka, Jerry in Wichita, and my baby brother, Jim, lives in Portland, Oregon.
I have attended all the reunions from the 20th on. They are really alot of fun.
Look forward to seeing you all in June for our 35th.
