Grand Cayman

Nov 1998 - Grand Cayman
This was my first trip to the Caribbean and also my first scuba diving trip other than my open water certification trip.
The island was very beautiful although I did not find it that picturesque. I guess it didn't exactly look like the tropical
island I had pictured. Of course I went scuba diving and the water was so clear. My certification dives where in San
Carlos, Mexico and the visibility at best was 30' - 40'. In Grand Cayman the visibility was over 100' everywhere I
dived. I also did the Stingray City dive. You can't go to Grand Cayman without a visit to Stingray City. Every diver
you meet after that will ask if you went there. I rented a Jeep Wrangler and spent some time driving around the
island. The weather was perfect and I enjoyed the drive very much and I didn't have to put the top up once. I even
paid a visit to Hell. It is pretty cheesy but again, it is one of the things people will ask you about. I didn't get to send a
postcard from Hell because the post office was closed. A very good first trip to the Caribbean and an excellent first
dive trip.
