santafe november weather...

during our november 11-14, 1998 conference dates we can expect either the very final stages of the santafe fall, with the last vibrant autumn leaf colors -- the flaming yellows of the aspens -- accented by lavender and gold wildflowers, blue skies, and s special clarity of air, or the beginnings of the santafe winter season -- with the aroma of pinyon pine fires in beehive fireplaces, crisp cold nights and sparkling cool sunny days...

so, what's the weather like?

• just great! santafe has four seasons, generally mild, and 300+ days of sunshine a year  
• average rainfall is 14 inches (36 centimeters) a year with the heaviest rainfall usually coming in july and august thunderstorms
• snow falls primarily from december through march, remaining on nearby mountain peaks but melting quickly in town under santafe's famous turquoise skies
• average relative humidity: 50%
• temperature ranges:
• october mean high: 63f (17c), mean low: 38f (3c);
• november mean high: 50f (10c), mean low: 27 (-3c)

what should we wear?

• comfort and individuality are santafe's fashion guidelines
• very few restaurants require jackets or ties for gentlemen
• warm clothing and comfortable shoes are advised for november (suggest layering so that you're prepared for brisk mornings, then peel off a jacket, sweater, or vest when the warm new mexico sun goes to work)
• therefore: without even checking the second-order conditions we can conclude that the usual, somber regional-science-style dark business suits can be left back in Cleveland:  for once we aren't meeting in a large, gray, northeastern city...
