The 45th North American Meetings of the RSAI will be held in two lovely, downtown Santa Fe hotels: La Fonda and Hotel Loretto (formerly known as "The Inn at Loretto"). The two venues are on adjoining properties across a quiet back street from one another. Conference sessions and special events of the Meetings will take place in both hotels. We have negotiated identical, special conference rates at both hotels -- $95 plus tax per night, single or double occupancy. These rates are exceptionally good values for Santa Fe!

Hotel registration forms were mailed to known participants and included in the August RSAI News.  As of October 15, however, reservations were no longer being accepted at La Fonda or the Inn at Loretto because our room block there had been filled. Rooms at our first overflow hotel, The Inn of the Governors, were also unavailable for some of the conference nights.  Therefore we have arranged with the Radisson Santa Fe to take reservations from anyone who still has not booked a room.

Meeting-goers are urged to book into The Radisson Santa Fe immediately while rooms are still available there at our special conference rate of $95 (plus tax) per night based on single or double occupancy.  Please phone the hotel NOW to reserve your room.

Be sure to identify yourself as attending the conference of the Regional Science Association International in order to receive our special conference rate (the hotel's regular room rates are higher).

la fonda
La Fonda is Santa Fe!   There has been a fonda, or inn, on the site of the present La Fonda since Santa Fe was founded in 1610. La Fonda is "The Inn at the End of the Santa Fe Trail," right on The Plaza and surrounded by historic churches, museums, shops and galleries. It first gained its reputation in the 19th century and has attracted generations of celebrities -- from Kit Carson to Errol Flynn to John F. Kennedy. The lobby is the one of Santa Fe's major gathering spots -- usually a happening scene.

Each of La Fonda's guest rooms and suites is unique. Guests enjoy distinctive old-fashioned touches throughout -- colorful hand-decorated wooden furniture and room accents painted by local Pueblo Indian artists.

La Fonda's meeting rooms, which will be the location of about half of the conference's concurrent paper sessions and of the various Council meetings, are elegantly appointed and totally Santa Fe style.  La Fonda's elegant ballroom, with its eight elegant, massive, tin-and-glass chandeliers will be the site of our plenary session and reception on Thursday afternoon and evening, November 12, and the Annual Banquet Luncheon, featuring the presentation of NARSC awards on Saturday, November 14.

NOTE: As of September 15 Reservations were no longer being accepted at La Fonda.  Requests received at La Fonda are being transferred to The Radisson Santa Fe (see above).

hotel loretto
Hotel Loretto (formerly known as "The Inn at Loretto") is on the site of the Loretto Academy, founded in 1852, by the Sisters of Loretto and Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy. Completed in 1975, the hotel embraces Loretto Chapel which houses a breathtaking spiral staircase. Legend has it that the Sisters' prayers for help in completing the Chapel were answered by an itinerant carpenter. He meticulously crafted the wondrous staircase using simple tools, no hardware, and exquisitely bent wood -- and then quietly disappeared.

Hotel Loretto has recently been fully renovated under new management by Noble House Hotels. Built in the style of an Indian Pueblo, the hotel's rooms and suites are furnished in comfortable southwestern style. Some have balconies and many of the rooms offer views of central Santa Fe and the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Hotel Loretto exudes a calmer southwestern ambiance than the lively hustle-and-bustle and people-watching opportunities that abound in the public spaces at La Fonda.

Hotel Loretto's newly renovated meeting rooms will be the sites of many of the concurrent paper sessions of the Meetings, as well as of the conference's major social event -- the party on Friday evening, November 13.

NOTE: As of September 28 Reservations were no longer being accepted at Hotel Loretto.  Requests received at Hotel Loretto were being transferred to The Radisson Santa Fe (see above).
