Economics 501A: Microeconomics

Fall 1998.
Meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30 - 10:45, in McClelland 401KK.

Professor: Mark Walker.

Teaching Assistants: Zeynep Hansen zeynepk@u.arizona.edu and Bill Janss wpjanss@u.arizona.edu

You should have an email account and check it regularly. This is not required, but you will find it much easier to communicate with me or with the TA by email than by phone, and I will often communicate with everyone in the class via email.

Textbook: Advanced Microeconomic Theory, by Jehle & Reny; Addison-Wesley 1998.

Exercises, Quizzes, Exams, and Grading:

Regular exercises will be assigned. The exercises will not be graded, but the TAs and I will give you help and feedback. On some Wednesdays there will be a brief quiz at the end of the lecture; the quiz will be one of the exercises you were assigned earlier, or very similar to one of the exercises.

There will be one mid-term exam and a comprehensive final exam. The course grade will be determined mostly by performance on the final exam, in the following way: If you do better on the final exam than on the midterm exam, the final exam grade will be your course grade. But if you do worse on the final exam, the midterm exam and the quizzes will be taken into account.

!! There will be no make-up exams !!
