Estée Lauder Company Inc. was founded in 1946 by Estee and Joseph Lauder. Estee Lauder is a manufacturers and markets quality skin care, makeup, fragrance, and hair products. This company is marketed and sold in over 130 countries and territories under well recognized brand names. The Estée Lauder Companies became a public company (NYSE: EL) in 1995 and has acquired a number of beauty companies that reach even more diverse populations and fill underserved niche markets.

Estee lauder fourth quarter sales revenues increased by 14 per cent from $1.75bn to $2.01bn, representing a 9 per cent increase excluding the impact of currency effects. Caused by growth in Europe and in Asia pacific region.

Estee Lauder owns widely recognized brands including Estee Lauder, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Lab Series, Origins, M.A.C, Bobbi Brown, La Mer, Aveda, Jo Malone, Bumble and bumble, Darphin, Rodan + Fields, American Beauty, Flirt!, Good Skin and Grassroots.

The company is still controlled by the Lauder family, which controls about 70% of voting shares. Estée's son Leonard Lauder chairs the board of directors. William P. Lauder, a grandson, is CEO. Dan Brestle is president. Fabrizio Freda will become president and chief operating officer in March 2008.
