mission

The mission of our club is to draw together students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds who share an interest in health and culture.  Our goals are to teach about cultural health issues in our local and world communities and to learn how we can initiate positive change.

 upcoming:

We will have a lot of exciting projects and events this year!

Magazine:
We are developing an e-zine dedicated to learning more about healthcare structure in other countries, world health disparities, and projects that combat world health concerns.

Working with Refugees:
We will be developing health orientations for new refugees in our community. Thousands of refugee people come to start a new life in Tucson each year.  The goals of our orientations will be to familiarize refugees with healthcare options, teach how to navigate insurance systems,  and help connect refugees with the many supports that exist in our community.

Donation Drives:
There will be many opportunities to give to our community!

Our first drive this fall will be a deodorant drive to help support refugee children. Imagine going to a new school where you don't speak the language,  don't have any friends,  and don't know how to fit in.  These are just some of the barriers new refugee children face when moving to the United States.  Additional barriers exist in cultural differences in hygiene practices.  Many young children are being teased in their schools because they don't use deodorant.  We will give health and hygiene orientations to refugee children and hand out deodorant donations as supplements.
