Hello, and welcome to my web page. My name is Mary Margaret Popova and I am a student in the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Program here at the U of A. This is my second year in the program and my fourth year to work as a TA in the composition department. I also teach an adult ESL class in the evenings which is my favorite thing to do. My hometown is a very small town (about 250 people) 30 miles North of Birmingham, Alabama.  Many of my friends here say that I've lost my Southern accent, but I'm working on getting it back.  Tucson has already been a great home for me! With all of the mysterious desert and mountainous areas to explore, I'm never at a loss for what to do on the weekends! My favorite things to study revolve around sociolinguistic issues and I am also very interested in Bulgarian language and other South Slavic languages.
