Dr. Glueck
is a climatologist specializing in regional climate
variability, synoptic climatology,
and applied climatology
studies with emphasis on data analysis and applications. Regions
of high interest include the western US
and the Arctic. She enjoys working with a variety of
data and data related tools, and continues
to educate others about these resources through informal discussion,
classroom
instruction, and formal presentations. Her
areas of research reflect her broad interdisciplinary interests
in regional climate studies. Projects have included: remote
sensing-based air-sea-ice interaction studies of the St.
Lawrence Island polynya (Ph.D.; NASA); multi-proxy dendroclimatic
reconstruction of the North Atlantic Oscillation
(Tree-Ring Lab, UA; NSF); compilation of
hydrology informational resources
with the Climate of the Southwest
RISA
project (CLIMAS; NOAA); compilation of multi-century annually
resolved U.S. and European Greenland ice core
accumulation
records (UA in collaboration with ice core community; NSF);
refinement of a climate-based model of
coccidioidomycosis
incidence (UA team in collaboration with Arizona Department of Health
Services; EPA); and most
recently,
co-development of stakeholder-driven we-based analysis and mapping
toolbox as part of the Western Climate
Mapping
Initiative (WestMap; UA, DRI, PRISM; NOAA). She has recently
taught climatology courses in the Department
of Geography and Regional Development. Currently, she is part
of the Applied Climate for Environment and Society
Research group at University of Arizona (The Comrie Lab).
