Growth as a function of height: Ferocactus wislizeni Plants surveyed are those that have already reached reproductive age (so cannot see effect of onset of flowering on growth rate). Two charts are shown: growth by height class, and growth as a scatter plot. Growth appears to be relatively constant regardless of height, although the very tallest plants may grow slightly faster. Average growth in height per year is 2.6 cm. Growth is from 1998 to 2004 (7 years). Plants were measured in 1998, 1999 and 2004. Shown are the average height (averaged between 1998 and 2004 measurements), and average growth per year (ditto). The error bars are standard errors of the mean.
