of Women Archers: Modern
"A nineteenth-century engraving of a female of the Arawak Indians
from the West Indies. The bow, for hunting and warfare, was normally reserved
for the exclusive use of the men of the tribe and it is rare to find females
carrying this weapon. Occasionally, as in South America, female Indians
together with children use the bow for fishing."
