James Ma is a Senior Scientist at Cataphora, Inc., a Silicon Valley based software company. He plays a leading role in the actor communication graph analysis project and communication content generation project using text mining and graph theory. His duties involves intensive mathematical modeling and prototype development.
James is also a PhD Candidate in the
Department of Management Information Systems at the
University of Arizona.
He expects to graduate in August 2009. Before coming to the University of
Arizona, he got the Master's Degree in Computer Science at the
University of Texas at Dallas, and the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
from Peking University in China.
From 1998 to 2000, James has been
instructing the Principle of Chemistry (I) and (II) (Lab) in the
Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry, Texas Tech University.
Starting from 2001, he has been working as a system engineer for two
years in Santera Systems,
Inc, (currently
GenBand), a
Dallas-based telecommunication company. From 2003 until present, he has
been a graduate associate in the Department of Management Information Systems at the
University of Arizona.
At the University of
Arizona, James has been involved in a number of research projects and teaching activities. His
research interests and activities include Systems Analysis and Design,
Complex Software System Analysis, Web Site Design Analysis and Evaluation,
and Spatial-Temporal Data Analysis. He has been a teaching associate and guest lecturer for the Data Structures and Algorithms (MIS 301) for two years. Starting from the Spring semester of 2007, he became an instructor to
teach the Information Systems Analysis and Design (MIS 341) for two consecutive semesters. His teaching evaulation score was 4.5/5.0 which was among one of the top scores.
