About
I was born and raised in Neenah, Wisconsin, and since I don't actually appreciate the cold weather much, I've been finding great excuses to escape to warmer lands for years. Studying, teaching or research has taken me to Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Cameroon and Tucson, Arizona, where I am have been in the Ph.D. program in linguistics at the University of Arizona for five years. In 2007-2008, I spent a year of researching in the field in Peru, supported by a Fulbright IIE scholarship. I'm really interested in indigenous languages, cultures and pre-hispanic architecture of the Americas (I've been to sites from the Gila cliff dwellings in New Mexico to Teotihuacan, Uxmal, Bonampak, Palenque, Chichen Itza, Labna, Ek Balam and Kiwik, in Mexico, to Tikal in Guatemala, and to Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, Kuelap, Chan chan and Huaca de la luna in Peru, to name a few).
When In my little-but-beloved free time, I really enjoy hiking and backpacking, cooking and playing games.
