About Me

I'm the oldest of six children. I have four parents, four sisters, one brother, two nephews and two nieces and a third on the way. I hail from the Bambraskingvirgeorgerlands, and speak German, Dutch and Spanish fluently. I've also learned a good bit of Finnish, Afrikaans, Israeli Hebrew, Southwestern Ojibwe, Ponca and Omaha, Ioway and Otoe, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Nepali, Maay Maay and Arabic.

I have played the oboe since 1992, and enjoy composing cacophony for woodwind quintet. My major musical influences and standbys, in nonrandom but dysfunctional order, are:
Kimya Dawson, Alanis Morissette, Björk, Tori Amos, Jeremy Enigk, Jerry Cantrell, Madonna, Jeff Mangum, Battles, Jack Barnett, Neil Peart, Mike Patton, Dream Theatre, Doug Pinnick, Rick Wakeman, Andrew Latimer, Amon Düül II, Robert Fripp, David Gilmour, XTC, Maynard James Keenan, Einstürzende Neubauten, Metallica, Steven Wilson, Edgar Froese, Richard David James, Gay Beast, Jim Ward, Geoff Tate, Immortal Technique, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Stan Kenton, Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, OutKast, the Roots, César Franck, Rolf Rudin, Robert Schumann, Paul Hindemith

Selected favourite movies

Dr. Strangelove, Machete, A Portrait of Hell, Drag Me to Hell, Walk on Water, Funny Games, Lady Vengeance, Sukiyaki Western Django

My favourite tea store is Vital Tea Leaf: Their oolongs are to die for.
I'm a huge fan of brewpubs. I would pay serious cash to be able to get Rush River down here.
I'm an equally huge fan of rum bars like Hobson's Choice in San Francisco, or Trader Vic's in Emeryville.
I subsist on fabulous Thai curries and salads, random European-style soups, and Mexican dishes cobbled together with whatever's fresh. I have no compunction: You eat with me, we win.
