I recently moved to NASA from the University of Arizona where I mostly hung out in the Psycholinguistics Laboratory

where you will still sometimes find me. I hope to update this page to reflect more of what I am doing at NASA sometimes soon.

Research

Experimental study of visual perception, particularly the temporal development of percepts. Currently I am working on metacontrast masking and the effects of context on picture perception. For more information click here. For my vita, click here.

Leukemia

My Buddy Alan Kuo had leukemia, and like many minority patients has had trouble finding a "match". In order for a bone marrow transplant to work, you must find a donor with matched tissue type. There are data banks with potential donors, but the chances of any two people matching are low, and the chances of matching someone from a different race are almost nil. Because most of the people in the data bases are white there is a good chance that a caucasian will find a match. Unfortunately this is not true for members of ethnic minorities. If you are a member of any ethnic minority, please register. All it takes is a blood test (and filling out a bunch of forms). Alan's home page has a lot of details on what is involved including details on other places to register. For more information you can e-mail me. (By the way, Alan finally found a match. He has had the bone marrow transplant and is doing very well.)
