About

Ninbento is a modification of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System that acts as a music visualization system. Using a custom-built circuit and a practice known as "circuit bending," the modified NES will "listen" to music and generate chaotic and colorful displays to the beat. The gallery page has a number of videos and pictures demonstrating this effect.

Ninbento is currently for sale. Check out the purchasing info for pricing and contact information. Combined with a video projector, this would be perfect for any DJ wanting to create a one-of-a-kind club experience. Only one unit is available, and I don't plan on building any more, so get it before it's gone!

The Ninbento is the product of six weeks of planning, wiring, soldering, testing, drilling and praying. The circuit I used for the Ninbento is based on Phillip Stearns's "Circuit Bent NES", with some minor modifications. Check out the technical details page to see my modified circuit, a summary of how it was constructed, and a description of how the whole thing works.
