The University of Arizona Faculty/Staff Choir is a volunteer organization that welcomes singers of all abilities. No experience is required and there are no auditions. Our goals are to promote social interaction and the joy of singing, to share our songs and music with the University community, and to support the School of Music choral activities.
Established in 1990 as an additional resource for graduate students in choral conducting, the Faculty/Staff choir proved to be a good idea for the participants as well as for the conductors. While giving conducting students experience in leading an all-volunteer choir (very different from conducting choirs of trained musicians) it has also proved to be a source of relaxation and enjoyment for hundreds of members of the university community over the past seasons. In recent years we have switched to working with a permanent conductor. We are lucky to have a complete chronology and listing of all of the past conductors of the Faculty/Staff choir.
The mission of the University of Arizona Faculty & Staff Choir is to promote and build community throughout the UA campus and the greater Tucson community by sharing and expressing our love of music. As a choir, we also strive to encourage one another to achieve our best in vocal performance.
