Candle

A current work in progress the candle I'm working on is a carving of the Amnesty International logo of a candle wrapped in barbed wire. Right now I'm working on the actual flame part of the candle. The barbed wire and actual candle are drawn out on the block of wood, I just need to get around to doing it.

I'll put up more pictures as I go along on this one put these are shots showin how I've planned out the barbed wire and flame.

In this shot you should be able to see the outlines for the barbed wire on the bottom portion and the beginnings of the flame on the smaller top part.

The way I see it working out is that I'm cutting out the flame as a smaller block on top that I'll eventually style into the flame I want. Just below that is a smaller, narrower section that'll for the wick of the candle leading into the flame. The hardest part of this will be cutting out the barbed wire from the wood since the whole thing will be from a solid block of wood. I've already got outlines for the barbed wire drawn up on the wood as can bee seen in both pictures the tough part will be cutting the rest of the wood around it down and round. Once the actual candle is formed I'll have to work on cutting the barbed wire away from the candle. I'm still wondering how I'll do the spikes on the wire, I think I'll end up just making them little nubs in places around the wire as I carve it round and smooth.

This picture shows a little better the progression of the flame and wick as well as showing where the barbed wire will begin.
