Rifts was probably my favourite RPG outside Dragon Warrior for the original Nintendo system. Rifts took place on Earth in the not quite so distant future. Evidently another world war broke out around the same time that mystical forces erupted all over the world causing massive destruction across the world sending us into some kind of post-apocalyptic Mad Max like world. In this new world humanity now shares the world with aliens called dimensional beings or D-bees for short.

Rifts isn't like most other RPG's though, in Rifts you are not some hero out to change the world, quite the opposite. Your character is simply an ordinary person thrust into extraordinary situations. But, like all RPG's, the game is truely dependent on the game master or GM, without a good one any RPG sucks.
