Blood Bowl

Blood Bowl was a game I learned from a friend of mine named Matt Elm while I was working at Camp Geronimo. The concept of the game is based off of american footbal but has a fantasy twist with much more blood and gore.

Computer Games:

Blood Bowl is played using different species each with different racial traites. Some of the races include humans, dwarves, undead, beastmen, goblins and snotlings. For a more complete list visit www.blood-bowl.net's list of races.

The objectives of the game are quite simple; win by any means necessary. True there are ref's in the game but they don't always notice if you commit a foul, like kicking someone while their down, bring weapons onto the field or even sneak out extra players onto the field, something snotlings are notorious for doing given their extreamely small size.

The field is large grid with two end-zones marked at A and Z and running the whole width of the board. At the start of each round of play/attempt at a touchdown, each team would line up their players and then let them at it.

As is implied from the game Blood Bowl can be a very bloody game, depending on your imagination that is. While Blood Bowl could be played with simple tokens representing your players it's best played with miniatures specific to a single player since as your team plays more and more games they gain in status and skill eventually even becoming a star-player, provided they aren't killed before that.

Death is very applicable to almost any Blood Bowl game. I played one game against Matt Elm in which he played a team of tiny little snotlings and I had a team of beastmen. Through out the game I probably killed or seriously injured seven or eight of his players. He still won the game 14-0 (because his snotlings could run under my players legs) but we both ended up winning about the same money because of the kills I made.
