I am a fourth-year PhD student in the Philosophy Department at the University of Arizona. My area of specialization is political philosophy.

I've been spending my time lately working on a series of papers on political obligation and state legitimacy, and also some papers on moral epistemology.  I also have a strong interest in philosophical issues surrounding the justification of punishment.

My other interests include:

• topics in political philosophy: liberalism, civic republicanism, perfectionism, freedom
• topics in the philosophy of law: philosophy of criminal law, the concept of law
• normative ethics, especially virtue ethics
• the history of moral and political philosophy
