I am a second-year PhD student in the Philosophy Department at the University of Arizona. My area of specialization is political philosophy.

I'm most interested in the philosophy of punishment. Punishment is an interesting topic to write about because it requires engagement with issues in moral, political, and legal philosophy, and involves occasional run-ins with free will, personal identity, philosophy of action, and whatever else one is creative enough to come up with. So writing about punishment means you get to work on all of these areas. It's also a worthwhile topic, since, as practically everyone agrees, actual penal practices leave much to be desired.
