create-a-project
Don't like your choices? Too boring? Not the right topic? Think you could do better? Fine, make a suggestion!

Instructions: Your easiest option is to modify an existing assignment to meet your interests and skills, but if you prefer you are free to develop an entirely new project. The purpose of the assignment should be to bring the things we're studying in class to bear on the outside world, so be creative and think of new ways to do that! Try to think of creative ways to participate in, observe, critique, or otherwise learn more about social movements. Of course, you'll have to incorporate concepts, readings, and theories from class too, so try to build this into your project from the beginning. This can be tough, but I'm happy to work with you to come up with the perfect idea.

Start planning in advance. Your first task will be to draft a proposal for your assignment - essentially a short memo - in which you explain your proposed assignment to me. In addition to a brief description of what you want to do, your proposal should include a deadline and point-value for your assignment. The latest possible deadline for handing in your assignment is the deadline for the last independent assignment of the semester. Choose a point-value that you think is comparable to those for the other independent assignments. We'll use this as a contract between us and I'll hold you to it. Submit your proposal to me and then we'll negotiate. Then, go do it. It's as simple as that.
