My research involves using electroencephalographic and autonomic psychophysiological measures to understand psychologically interesting phenomena. Among those phenomena, I am interested in memory and amnesia, different systems of memory, one's awareness of memory and performance, risk for depression, and treatment of depression. Listed below are four broad areas of interest:
Etiology and treatment of mood disorders; Asymmetrical frontal brain activity as a marker of risk for depression; The efficacy of acupuncture as a treatment for major depression. Alteration of vagal tone as an predictor of treatment response in depression.
The assessment of memory and amnesia using event-related potentials; Assessing deception and malingering; Assessment of memory and amnesia in dissociative disorders.
Individual differences in error monitoring, motivation, and emotion.
Methodologies for using cerebral-psychophysiological measures in individual rather than group assessment
