The mechanism underlying the coexistence of large number of species within tropical forests remains one of the most elusive concepts in ecology and evolution. My research tests several models of species coexistence and habitat partitioning of plant species by using observational and greenhouse experiments along elevational gradients in both temperate and tropical ecosystems.
