After 23 years of working in the Computer Center for CCIT, I accepted a Computing Manager, Principal position at Facilities, Design, and Construction (FD&C). FD&C is responsible for overseeing all new construction and large remodeling projects at the University of Arizona. The department is under the direction of Robert Smith and employs a team of design professionals, construction managers, cost control and contract specialists who represent the University's interests in any new construction. FD&C is currently managing roughly 80 projects from $25,000 remodels to new $60 million structures, with a combined total project value of over $300 million. The department's mission: To efficiently and cost effectively provide a quality environment and facilities to support the University's teaching, research, and community service missions, and enhance the experience of all who interact with The University of Arizona. Check out the live camera shots at our website. Our MIS/IT department is in the final stages of building a complete cost recovery and time management system that allows for truely accurate and efficient collection of billing information along with timely batch uploading to the University Payroll System.
