Greetings =;-)

It's a pleasure to welcome you to my homepage. I hope that you will find some good quality information here and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me. I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Arizona. I completed two bachelor's degrees from Santa Clara University in the heart of the Silicon Valley. I have a B.S.C. degree in Managment Leavey School of Business , which I completed in three years, and a B.A. in Communication. For the last two years, I have been working on my MA in Communication at the University of Arizona . My plans are to complete a Ph.D. in Communication with an emphasis in technology.

So, what do I do in my feel time you ask? ) I'm still an Arizona desert rat at heart. I also like spending time in nature, especially in the mountains of Northern Arizona, there are few experiences better than an afternoon thunderstorm from the view of my parent's cabin porch while sipping some hot apply cider and reading a book. The cabin is located on Mount Union outside of Presscott and is comparably rustic -- no phone, one TV station comes through fuzzy, no internet access, etc. Yes, there is electricity and running water.

Another common question I am asked is what do I want to do in life? Of course I want to change the world. After eight years of Jesuit education, I'm coming closer to the answer of that question. My major interests are in technology and society, which I am focusing on this year with my research agenda:

  • I am currently conducting a research project on "On-Line Social Support" The goals of the OSS project are to learn more about social support in computer-mediated communication.
  • Another research project I am currently completing is computer based resources in college education. The study is looking at instructor and students preceptions and uses of online materials in classes.
  • I am also working with Professor Judee Burgoon on a grant research project exploring the issue of interactivity in CMC and HCI.

From my research I hope to contribute a framework of how to incorporate (cope) technology into society. In addition to my research, I am currently planning a program, which will help disadvantaged youth learn study skills and computer skills. If you are interested in learning more about the Magis Project, please contact me.
