I am an international student from Cali, Colombia, South America.  I received my BS degree in mechanical engineering in my natal country.  I earned my MA in anthropology in May 2001, and I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Arizona.  I have worked on several projects as part of the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology (BARA) and the Department of Language, Reading and Culture in the College of Education.  My wife, Angélica Poveda, and I have been living in Tucson, Arizona, since 1997; we have three adorable daughters Laura Milena, Natalia Ivonne, and Melissa Andrea.
