Maria Helena Ferraz has performed numerous times with Orchestras in Brazil, U.S.A., and inMaria Helena Ferraz
Maria Helena studied with Lili Kraus, Helena Costa, Gilberto Tinetti,
and Luiz de Moura Castro for whom
she worked as a teacher assistant at the III International Music Festival
in Girona, Spain. Presently she is working
towards her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the
University
of Arizona , School
of Music, under
the direction of Professor Nicholas Zumbro.
She was the first prize in various competitions in Brazil, and USA.
Among her Awards and Scholarships are
CAPES Brazilian Government Scholarship, International Courses
of Pianistic Interpretation Scholarships in Italy,
Brazil, USA, and Spain.
Maria Helena was a faculty member of the Music School of Piracicaba,
SP, Brazil, the University of
Hartford Hartt School, CT, and currently she is a teacher assistant
to the Piano Department of
The Universityof Arizona, School of Music. Through the years, she has
taught many students, several of which
have been prize winners various competitions. She has also given Piano
Master-Classes and Workshops in
Piano Pedagogy at the School of Music Ernst Mahle, and at the
University Methodist of Piracicaba, São Paulo,
Brazil. She has also served as a member of the Jury at Connecticut
Music Teachers Association
Regional Piano Competitions, USA, and at the Young Instrumentalists
National Competition in Brazil.
Maria Helena Ferraz is a member of the Connecticut Music Teachers Association,
and the
Music National Teachers Association.
