JULY 2009 Professor Corral has been invited to give a presentation at the NSF-DFG Conference on “Sustainable Use of Nanomaterials for Novel Engineering Solutions,” in New York city, in October 2009. 


JUNE 2009 The Corral Laboratory hosts their first “Materials Magic Show” for a group of high school students attending the Summer Engineering Academy at UA.


MAY 2009 The Corral Laboratory welcomes, Victoria Marrato, as an undergraduate research assistant.


MAY 2009 Professor Corral was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Service Award at the Student Interface, from the Materials Science and Engineering Department, at The University of Arizona.

MARCH 2009 Professor Corral’s research was published in, The Journal of the American Ceramic Society, titled, “Glass-to-Metal Seal Interfacial Analysis Using Electron Probe Microscopy for Reliable Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.”


MARCH 2009 Professor Corral was selected by the Vice President for Research as one of two young faculty in Science & Engineering to represent UA as a nominee for a Packard Fellowship in Science & Engineering.


OCTOBER 2008 Professor Corral’s research was featured on the cover of the  Journal of the American Ceramic Society that shows crack bridging by single-walled carbon nanotubes in sintered silicon nitride from an article titled, “Engineering Nanostructures of Single walled carbon nanotubes Nanocomposites,” by E. L. Corral, et al.


OCTOBER 2008 Professor Corral presented an invited talk at the National Meeting, Materials Science & Technology, in Pittsburgh, PA, titled “Multifunctional SWNT Ceramic Nanocomposites.”


OCTOBER 2008 Professor Corral’s research was featured in the journal, Advanced Materials & Processes, with an article titled, “Ultra-high Temperature Ceramic Coatings.”
