Desai has been active in a number of professional activities at the national and international levels. He has pioneered the conference series on “Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics”, and “Constitutive Laws for Engineering Materials”. He is the founding President of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics and initiated the International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, of which he was the General Editor from 1977-2000. He is the founding Editor-in Chief of the International Journal of Geomechanics published now by the American Society of Civil Engineers-Geo Institute. He has served as chair and committee members for various societies and associations and has served as an Editorial Board member of about 10 journals. |
